Let's be honest here. Any girl who grew up watching how this rockin' mermaid earned her legs has a soft spot for her, and I'm no different! Although I admit that from a very early age I never dared to attempt to draw her, yesterday was a LONG day of very boring classes and it affected my mental capacity. (Please forgive, Keane)
What I've always loved most about Ariel (besides her colour scheme!) is her innocent impulsiveness, and her courage to do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Being a kid, she was easily manipulated by the sea witch, but she never lost her fire, fighting to the very end even when all seemed lost.
You go, girl!
And finally, a question to you all: What do YOU like most about Ariel?
Ez, as always, I find your wok inspiring! You get the most sublime expressions in the simplest forms and it screams from every line of your work! Ariel's happy curiosity is sweetly endearing, it just makes you wanna give her a hug!
The one place I can offer a slight crit on is an agreement with one of the comments about the hair, I also think it just needs a little more fluidity and softness in the underwater setting, but that's pretty much the only thing I could find that's just a tiny bit off... Otherwise, I LOVE the colours, especially the ambient highlights and shines, and this is just a sketch!
Fantastic work indeed! (As I've mentioned before!)
Somehow I've landed up in the critque box again >< First off I think it's a very nice rendition of the Ariel. You've captured her likeness well and followed the colour scheme textbook style. You even gave her a shiny thingamajig from the surface to add to her collection lol I'm not an expert at underwater colouring but I can say that if the light is strong enough to reach her, there should be some caustic lighting, which would give this drawing some nice impact, even if it's just a suggestion of it. Other than that I can't really think of anything else to add to this already cool picture
Funnily enough, Ariel was more my sister's interest than mine. My fav thing about her? She was(if memory serves correctly) one of the first Disney princesses who wasn't a bland blond.
This is amazing! I lover her expression and the way her hair is floating. I also think you did a great job with shadowing and creating depth. I love it.
Ariel is my all time favourite princess. I really love her. Her beautiful voice and her perfect hair I love the way you drew her she looks young and full of hope and intrest in the human world : D
