Teen Theodore Roughs - August 2013 by The-Ez Teen Theodore Roughs - August 2013 by The-Ez
Hiya, guys!

So I'm lately (and very gradually) giving my Theodore character a long-overdue overhaul, and I thought I'd share a bit of what I've been up to. We spend some time with Teen Ted in the Valiard Mansion story, so I thought I might use his younger design as a springboard to refine his adult design. Which is what you're looking at right now. :giggle:

Lots of odd, what-the-heck-was-I-thinking mistakes in these particular sketches, but I'm learning and figuring things out along the way. :D So just this once, if it's not related to the design of the character's features, please don't point out any mistakes. I SEE THEM. THEY'RE AWFUL. :XD: Look at those huge gorilla arms. :stare: LOOK AT THEM!!! :la:

But yeah, you guys's input would be pure awesome! B-) I'm just scrambling to have him look different from my other male characters, really.

*oh gosh why did I draw him with such a dorky open-mouth grin why oh why*

Thanks for looking!

A coincidence, I promise you. I don't even look at Tracy Butler's work. :faint: And I'm working on it—this is quite an old picture and I've since made some changes to the character's design. :aww:

Though I'm not in the business of drawing anthropomorphic animals, so I can't say I'm too worried about the resemblance. When characters are in colour and in context, the similarities tend to fade away. :D

And a friendly caveat: please never lose sight of the fact that no single person has the monopoly over proportions or features. Consider that before you arbitrarily comment "looks like X" without offering why or how the characters appear similar, or how the artist might be able to steer clear of such a similarity—or better still, just add something positive, telling the artist what you like about the picture. :meow:

I mean, I can take it, but you might comment like that on someone else's work someday and really hurt their feelings, and that's never nice.

Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but truly, three words like that could shatter a young artist just starting out, and we all need to do our bit to support each other. :D

sorry. i didnt mean to sound like that. i like the character, but i didnt mean to come off as only caring  about that similarities.  its just that that was the first thing to come to mind when i saw the old fashioned clothes and thick eyebrows.  sorry i didnt add anything else, i can see how that might feel to someone.

Really really loved the age difference! So similar yet so distinguishable! They really look like the same person, in a very close age. Really amazing! Love your work!
